To maintain an efficient office environment it is essential to have a stable climate. The solar gain from large areas of glazing, over occupancy of staff, heat emissions from computer equipment all contribute in heating an office to uncomfortable levels. When this heat becomes oppressive, the effect it has on staff can be clearly seen  by the reduction in productivity. To combat this heat there are various options for climate control.

For smaller offices a simple wall mounted unit can be installed whilst for larger offices ceiling mounted cassettes can be utilised if there is a suspended ceiling or ceiling void. 

Units can have heat pumps than can offer extremely efficient heating solutions. More efficient than convector heater or electric fan heater due to their high coefficient of performance. With their enhanced capital allowance they offer tax benefits aswell.

The main types of unit are : 

 

  • Ceiling mounted cassettes
Installed in a suspended ceiling with only it fascia on display. The bulk of the unit is hidden above the suspended ceiling.The unit can also be branched so an adjacent office can benefit from climate control.
  • Wall mounted
Usually mounted at high level to provide good air distribution. A lower cost alternative that offers a cost effective method of heating and cooling.
  • Ducted
These can be concealed above a ceiling and a series of ducts and discharge grills distribute the air. This is a more costly option.
